Hello again, dreamers. Another big week in store. There’s a lot going on, big changes coming, and I’ll admit to feeling slightly overwhelmed. But it feels good to be back at it. I have a lot to talk about, so once again let’s dive right in.
Mailing List Now Available
At long last, I’m pleased to announce the introduction of my anticipated mailing list. Now, readers will be able to receive a monthly newsletter, as well as advance notice on upcoming releases and exclusive content available only to subscribers. What’s more, subscribers will receive a free, two-chapter preview of Wide Horizon just for signing up.
Signup forms can be found here on the website. Additional forms will soon be added to Twitter and Facebook. Sign up now, and don’t miss next month’s newsletter, available May 2. This month’s newsletter will feature updates on my short fiction and other projects, a sneak peek of Wide Horizon, a study on modern sci-fi worldbuilding, and more.
Querying Pioneers
With Wide Horizon behind me, at last I turn my attention back toward my most treasured story: Pioneers. Starting next month, I will begin querying for the novel. That means the coming weeks will be filled with final revisions, query letter writing, and synopses. Not something I’m looking forward to, but the modern writer must be capable of marketing himself. I’ve been doing hours of research, preparing myself for what will be the defining moment of my writing career. If I get this right, I might finally be able to step out of the shadows. It’s going to be a long haul, but I am as ready as I can be. I know this is a good book. Now I need to convince just one agent that it is.
In the meantime, this week I’ll be resuming my #WIPWednesday posts, starting with a brief introduction for new readers.
New Content Coming
I’m pleased to announce the re-launch of my monthly short fiction, starting next week. Don’t miss Dead Blow: a story in which two astronauts mining ice on Mars must prevent a cryovolcano from exploding beneath their feet.
Later this week, watch for a new flash fiction post, as well as my next Science in Fiction post. The new S-in-F post will deal with faster-than-light propulsion, and how sci-fi writers might avoid falling into tired tropes regarding interstellar travel.
Wide Horizon Price Drop

More big news: starting tomorrow, my novel Wide Horizon will be available on Amazon Kindle for just $3.99. Don’t miss your chance to buy my debut novel, a thrilling space opera in the distant future.
There’s lots to come, dreamers. Big changes will continue. So for now, keep reading, keep commenting, and as always, dare to dream. – MK
