Founded by science fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard, Writers and Illustrators of the Future is a quarterly contest for emerging writers and visual artists of speculative fiction. Panels of judges, which have included notable sci-fi writers Larry Niven, Kevin J. Anderson, and Orson Scott Card, assess each entry anonymously. A first, second, and third place story is selected out of eight finalists from thousands of entries. And those stories are released in an annual anthology.

This year’s anthology is the forty-second installment, featuring stories by emerging authors of fantasy and science fiction, as well as original pieces by bestselling authors Larry Niven, Nikki Kiriki Hoffman, and Orson Scott Card.

And, for the first time in print, one of my stories will be appearing in this anthology.

The cover will be revealed on February 28. While it’s already available for preorder, on April 28 the anthology will be available at Target, Barnes & Noble, and anywhere fine works of science fiction are sold.
